NIB has partnered with Doctor2Go to bring GP and mental health services into the workplace by using Telehealth. Time-poor corporate employees are often reluctant to seek the medical help they need unless they are very unwell. Together NIB and Doctor2Go bring the doctor to nib’s team with real-time face-to-face video consultations saving time.
Because of the ease of access, proactive client-centred health care is encouraged. Time-consuming tasks such as repeat prescriptions can be dealt with in minutes without travelling anywhere. Workplace injuries/illnesses can now be assessed by the Doctor2Go medical team before the team member leaves the workplace.
“We have integrated the Doctor2Go service into our holistic wellbeing strategy. Our people think it’s great. It provides them with the opportunity to consult with a GP quickly and conveniently without leaving the office. We believe that bringing this service into the workplace is going to redefine corporate wellness, and we are already investigating additional functions to integrate with the service such as blood pressure monitoring.” Sheree Knight, People & Development Coordinator, nib
nib showed their staff they cared by providing their team access to Doctor2Go
Doctor2Go is New Zealand’s first online medical team; proven to reduce sick leave costs. By providing staff with access to Doctor2Go nib was able to reduce workplace occupational stress and reduce the spread of disease in the workplace; thus decreasing staff absenteeism and improving productivity. nib showed their team they care about their health by making it free to see a Doctor anytime during work hours.
keeping the workplace healthy and happy is key to maintaining high growth
With Doctor2Go, nib removed the time and travel barrier for nib staff to seek preventive care by using the Internet to deliver personalised healthcare. Instead of wasting time travelling to and sitting in a medical centre or waiting room, staff can promptly see a doctor, nurse or mental health professional during working hours.
Less employee time throughout the business is taken out to travel to medical centres
Employees can spend more days at work because they can get healthcare and health advice easily which leads to fewer sick days. Compared to having untreated conditions and staying at work, staff can more easily have the treatment they need to be more productive and happy
Doctor2Go is a simple to implement managed service with an immediate ROI
A range of marketing material was provided to HR for staff engagement and to explain the scope of medical services available. The senior leadership team was briefed and had a chance to ask questions during on-site briefings.
Initially, as nib staff had never before had access to a GP online, they wanted to know where the medical team was located. Some of the medical professionals from Doctor2Go’s medical team visited nib’s head office for a meet and greet during a staff lunch break.
One typical concern that was expressed is patient confidentiality. Doctor2Go consultations are encrypted with a one-time key, and no 1:1 consultation data ever passes through Doctor2Go servers. No user identified information is provided to nib; the service is 100% private. The Doctor2Go medical team also set the nib staff at ease by explaining that all Doctor2Go medical staff are based in New Zealand, and are trained in the use of telehealth.
Doctor2Go has also commenced a blood pressure monitoring trial with nib’s team members, and the early results have been positive. Rob Hennin, nib’s Chief Executive Officer says the Doctor2Go service has been integrated into nib’s wellbeing strategy.
“We have integrated the Doctor2Go service into our holistic wellbeing strategy. The platform is used on average 15 times per month, and our people think it’s great. It provides them with the opportunity to consult with a GP quickly and conveniently without leaving the office. We believe that bringing this service into the workplace is going to redefine corporate wellness,” said Rob Hennin, nib Chief Executive Officer
