Blood pressure is probably the single biggest factor in determining your risk profile for a cardiovascular event or stroke event.
If you smoke, drink alcohol, carry excess weight or have challenges getting enough sleep or with too much stress these factors all contribute to your blood pressure reading. This is why blood pressure is such a good measure of overall health.
Monitoring your blood pressure provides instant knowledge on how these risk factors contribute to your health and wellbeing.
If you are a smoker it is common that your blood pressure reads higher than a non-smoker, taking into consideration everything else being equal. If you are overweight, in theory you will have slightly higher blood pressure. If you drink too much, then in theory someone with the same body style, age and fitness level as you who doesn’t drink, will have a slightly lower blood pressure.
We use Internet-connected devices that automatically measure your blood pressure and communicate with an app on your phone. These devices have been on the market for some time and are proven to produce results within 1% accuracy.
Our CEO Michael Haskell has volunteered to test our blood pressure monitoring service and has monitored his blood pressure with the help of our medical team for the past two years. Mr Haskell has been able to reduce his blood pressure as a result and we’ve now decided to make this service available to our clients.
The personal mobile-based app makes it simple. You see green, yellow or red indicators. If your blood pressure reading is under 120/80 then you will see the reading displayed in green, signalling that your blood pressure is within a healthy range. If your blood pressure is between 120/80 and 140/90 you will see the reading displayed in yellow to orange, this signals that your blood pressure is moving into a higher than desired range and should be managed with various lifestyle enhancements such as quitting smoking, exercising more, meditation, dietary improvements and many others choices that our medical team can discuss with you. When your reading is above 140/90 then that signals that your blood pressure has moved into a range where it could be doing damage to your body and may need to medicated (if lifestyle techniques do not work) in order to be brought into a healthier range.

It is very important to understand that our blood pressure is highly variable and changes many times each day. Even 5 minutes can make a difference. Its important to establish a baseline in your blood pressure because even people that are normally in the perfectly healthy range of under 120/80 will occasionally see increases in their blood pressure.
Our service will display your blood pressure in multiple ways including line graphs that show how trends emerge overtime so that you can recognise when your blood pressure is trending positively or negatively and take action.
Having access to how your blood pressure is trending will help you to make informed decisions to manage your blood pressure. A result of having this information I’ve made substantial changes, so I’m exercising more I’m sleeping better and drinking less.
“I’m also beginning to become aware of what lifestyle factors on a day to day basis impact my blood pressure. I’m actually learning that my actions have a direct impact on my blood pressure. I know for example that if I’m anxious or stressed, this increases my blood pressure 5-10 points, or if I’d had a horrible night of sleep the night before I can expect my blood pressure to be increased by 5-10 points or if I had too much to drink the night before the same thing occurs.” Michael Haskell
“Proactive blood pressure management through this Doctor2Go service has giving me the visibility and the insight to make those corrective behaviours.
